Nigerian Army Seeks TETFund Support for AI, Defence Training

The Nigerian Army has called on the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to support training in Artificial Intelligence and other defence technologies. This request aims to build the capacity of military personnel in modern technological skills. The move shows the army’s desire to keep up with global advancements in security and warfare.

Army officials believe that investing in AI and related technologies will strengthen Nigeria’s defence capabilities. With increasing security challenges, having soldiers trained in cutting-edge tools can make a big difference in operations. They want TETFund to help fund programmes that will equip officers with these important skills.

This partnership between the military and TETFund could open new opportunities for research and development in defence. It will allow Nigerian soldiers to learn from top institutions and apply the knowledge to real-life situations. The army sees this as a necessary step to improve overall national security.

Many experts support this idea, saying that technology is now a major part of modern military operations. Training in AI can help with intelligence gathering, data analysis, and quick decision-making. This development reflects the growing recognition of education’s role in strengthening the armed forces.

As the Nigerian Army pushes for this support, there is hope for better collaboration between educational bodies and the military. Such efforts could help the country build a more advanced and effective defence system. This initiative may set the pace for other security agencies to also embrace technology for better service delivery.
