Abuja Barber Sues Police for ₦1 Billion Over Lost Eye

An Abuja barber named Abraham Emmanuel has taken the Nigeria Police Force and the Divisional Police Officer of Bwari to court. He is demanding ₦1 billion in damages after he allegedly lost one eye from a tear gas canister.

The incident has sparked outrage among many Nigerians who are calling for justice and better conduct by security officers.

The barber claimed that police officers fired tear gas during an operation near his shop. One of the canisters hit him directly in the face, causing severe damage to his eye. Despite seeking medical help, he lost vision in that eye and now struggles to continue his work as a barber.

This case highlights the growing complaints about police brutality and the misuse of force in Nigeria. Many people have shared similar stories of innocent citizens getting injured during police operations.

The victim believes the huge amount he is demanding will serve as compensation for his pain and lost livelihood.

The lawsuit has drawn public attention and sympathy for the affected barber. Supporters are urging the police to investigate the matter thoroughly and hold those responsible accountable. This development comes at a time when trust in security agencies is already low in many communities.

As the case proceeds in court, many hope it will bring attention to the need for better training and discipline among police officers. The incident serves as a reminder of the risks ordinary citizens face when security forces are deployed. Nigerians are watching closely to see how the authorities respond to this serious allegation.
