Northern Christian Leader Warns Politicians Against Greed, Manipulation

The Chairman of the Northern Christian Association (NCA), Rev. Joseph Hayab, has cautioned political leaders against greed, selfishness and manipulation, urging them to lead with integrity and accountability for the sake of future generations.

Hayab spoke on Sunday after the dedication of the auditorium of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Gonin Gora, Kaduna State. The event drew politicians, traditional rulers, clerics and other dignitaries from different parts of the country.

Addressing journalists after the service, the cleric said leaders must govern with the fear of God and serve as positive role models to young Nigerians.

According to him, many youths are beginning to see manipulation and dishonest practices as acceptable means of achieving success because of the behaviour displayed by some people in authority.

He warned that acts of manipulation could eventually lead to disorder and disgrace rather than lasting success.

Hayab also stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance, saying Nigerians must learn to live together regardless of ethnic, political or religious affiliations.

He noted that Muslims participated in the church celebration and remained throughout the service, describing it as a reflection of the unity and understanding needed in the country.

The NCA chairman added that building places of worship would have little meaning if citizens failed to live in peace with one another.

He urged Nigerians to leave behind a legacy of love, sacrifice and harmony for future generations.

Hayab further reminded leaders that everyone would one day be accountable before God for their actions, stressing that wealth or status would not determine judgment, but individual conduct and attitude.

The cleric has continued to advocate interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence in Northern Nigeria, particularly in Kaduna State, where religious and ethnic tensions have occasionally resulted in violence.
