Ezeiruaku Emerges PDP Candidate for Nnewi Federal Constituency

An Abuja-based businessman and philanthropist, Dr. Freeman Ezeiruaku, has clinched the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for the Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 National Assembly elections.

Ezeiruaku secured victory during the party’s primary election conducted over the weekend under the supervision of state and national party officials.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Onwe Darlington Peter, said Ezeiruaku received 1,037 votes from the 1,051 accredited delegates who participated in the exercise.

Peter described the primary as peaceful, transparent and credible, noting that the conduct of the election reflected the confidence party members have in the candidate.

He added that agents representing other aspirants endorsed the result sheets, showing broad acceptance of the outcome.

According to him, the PDP primary was free of violence, rancour and disruptions often associated with political contests.

He expressed optimism that the party would run an issue-based campaign ahead of the general elections and said the PDP was confident of recording victory in the constituency.

In his acceptance speech, Ezeiruaku thanked delegates and party supporters for their trust, promising to provide effective and transformative representation if elected into the National Assembly.

He said the people of the constituency had been denied quality representation for years but assured them that their voices would be strongly represented in the 11th National Assembly.

The PDP candidate also urged party members and residents to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections, saying the constituency was entering a new political phase.

Ezeiruaku further appreciated the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as his leadership support during the primary process.

He also commended the party’s National Working Committee, Board of Trustees and other stakeholders, expressing confidence that the PDP would regain political relevance in Anambra State.

Meanwhile, one of the delegates who participated in the exercise described the primary as one of the smoothest contests conducted by the party in recent times.

The delegate noted that unlike previous exercises marked by disputes and disagreements, the latest primary was peaceful and orderly.

He added that party members were willing to support Ezeiruaku because of his longstanding relationship with the people and his philanthropic activities within the constituency.
