Nollywood Actor Sparks Reactions Over Comments on Cheating in Marriage
Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Daniel Etim-Effiong has sparked widespread reactions after stating that couples should approach infidelity with empathy and support instead of anger or retaliation.
Speaking during a podcast hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, the actor said cheating in marriage should first be viewed as a personal struggle requiring understanding and healing before addressing its effect on the relationship.
According to him, a spouse confronted with infidelity should initially focus on helping their partner overcome the issue rather than reacting solely from a place of hurt.
Etim-Effiong explained that when a partner cheats, the response should centre on asking how to help the person recover from the situation before both parties begin working on healing the relationship together.
He added that genuine love should not be driven by selfish interests, even though such an approach may be difficult for many people to accept.
The comments have since generated intense debate across social media platforms, with many users expressing mixed opinions about forgiveness, accountability and emotional boundaries in relationships.
The actor’s remarks also drew attention because of public discussions that have frequently surrounded his marriage to Toyosi Etim-Effiong.
The couple, married for more than six years with three children, have remained publicly united despite recurring online commentary about their relationship.
Daniel Etim-Effiong is known for his performances in productions including The Men’s Club and Castle & Castle.
