Ogun APC Announces Winners of House of Representatives Primaries
The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has announced the winners of its House of Representatives primary elections held across the state, with several incumbent lawmakers and former members of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s cabinet securing the party’s tickets.
The results were announced on Monday in Abeokuta by Philip Shaibu, chairman of the Ogun APC National Assembly Primary Elections Committee, after reports were submitted by collation officers from the various federal constituencies.
Among those declared winners was Olumide Osoba, son of former Ogun State governor Olusegun Osoba, who retained the APC ticket for the Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency.
Osoba, who currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, is seeking a fourth term after previous victories in 2019 and 2023.
Also returned was Moruf Afuape, the lawmaker representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency. Afuape had earlier served as commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs during Governor Abiodun’s first term.
Former commissioners in Abiodun’s administration also featured prominently among the winners. Funmi Efuwape clinched the ticket for Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency. She previously served as commissioner for women affairs before moving to the ministry of special duties and intergovernmental affairs.
Toyin Taiwo, the governor’s chief of staff and former commissioner for culture and tourism, secured the APC ticket for Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency.
The committee also declared Olanrewaju Bashorun winner of the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency primary, while Adijat Adeleye emerged candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency.
Adeleye previously served as commissioner for women affairs and social development in the state.
In other results announced by the party, Joseph Adegbesan won the ticket for Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, while Razaq Dadah emerged candidate for Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North East Federal Constituency.
Adegbesan and Dadah are serving members of the House of Representatives, although Dadah had also worked as special adviser on local government and chieftaincy affairs to Governor Abiodun.
The APC further declared Gboyega Isiaka winner of the Imeko-Afon/Yewa North Federal Constituency primary.
Isiaka currently chairs the House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development. He had reportedly shown interest in the 2027 Ogun governorship race before the party adopted Senator Solomon Adeola as its consensus candidate.
