Kwara State Set to Host Energy, Security, Science-focused Exhibition
The Kwara State Government has announced plans to host a major science exhibition for students across the state, specifically targeting innovations in the critical sectors of energy and security.
The event aims to provide a competitive platform for young scientific minds to showcase technological solutions to some of the country’s most pressing contemporary challenges.
The exhibition, organized by the State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, is designed to stimulate interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. By focusing on energy and security, the state government hopes to encourage students to develop homegrown prototypes for renewable energy sources and digital security frameworks that could eventually be scaled for community use.
Organizers have emphasized that the event will not only be a display of talent but also a hub for mentorship. Industry experts from the power sector and security agencies are expected to attend, offering technical feedback to the participants.
This initiative aligns with the state’s broader “Education Reform Agenda,” which seeks to move beyond theoretical learning toward practical, problem-solving education that meets 21st-century demands.
Schools from all 16 local government areas are expected to participate, with various categories spanning secondary and tertiary levels. Outstanding projects will reportedly receive grants and opportunities for further research and development.
The government has urged educators and parents to support their wards in this endeavor, noting that the “Kwara of the future” will be built on the innovations discovered in today’s classrooms.
The exhibition is scheduled to take place in the state capital, Ilorin, with specific dates and venue details to be released to the public in the coming weeks. For many observers, this move signals a proactive step in positioning Kwara as a leading hub for technological advancement in the North-Central region.
