Enugu Information Commissioner Loses Mother After Brief Illness
Mrs Laurita Nwakaego Agbo, mother of the Enugu State Commissioner for Information, Malachy Agbo, has died after a brief illness.
The family announced her passing in a statement issued on Sunday, disclosing that the matriarch died on Friday at the Niger Foundation Hospital.
In the statement signed by the commissioner, Mrs Agbo was described as a devoted Catholic, caring mother and a strong pillar within her family and community.
Agbo said his late mother was known for her humility, generosity and dedication to humanitarian service, adding that she touched many lives through philanthropic and community-based efforts, particularly in Ohodo community and Amufi village.
According to him, the deceased remained a respected figure and source of inspiration to many people throughout her lifetime.
The commissioner also appreciated individuals who had stood by the family with prayers and support following the loss, noting that funeral arrangements would be announced later.
Meanwhile, the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has expressed condolences to the commissioner and his family over the death of the family matriarch.
In a statement jointly signed by GOCOP President Danlami Nmodu and General Secretary Sufuyan Ojeifo, the organisation described Mrs Agbo as a woman whose life reflected humility, compassion and selfless service.
The group said tributes from relatives, friends and community members showed that the late matriarch lived a life marked by faith, peaceful conduct and concern for the welfare of others.
GOCOP stated that although her death created a painful void, the enduring impact of her kindness and guidance would continue to comfort the family and those she influenced.
The association also prayed for the repose of her soul and asked God to grant the Agbo family the strength to bear the loss.
