Former Obi Campaign Coordinator Declares for Imo Governorship Race

Former presidential campaign coordinator for Peter Obi, Ifeanyi Thaddeus Ezeagu, has officially declared his intention to contest the governorship election in Imo State.

Ezeagu announced his ambition during a meeting with supporters and political stakeholders, where he unveiled plans centred on security, education, employment, welfare and improved public service delivery.

The governorship aspirant said his administration would focus on rebuilding public trust in government through transparency, accountability and policies aimed at empowering young people and improving the living conditions of residents.

According to him, insecurity remains one of the major obstacles to economic growth and social development in Imo State, stressing that meaningful progress cannot be achieved in an atmosphere of fear.

He stated that his administration would prioritise the protection of lives and property while ensuring equitable distribution of democratic dividends across communities in the state.

Ezeagu also pledged major investments in the education sector, including the rehabilitation of schools, better welfare packages for teachers and the expansion of vocational and skills acquisition programmes targeted at reducing unemployment among youths.

He assured residents that his government, if elected, would pursue grassroots-oriented development and ensure that governance positively affects ordinary citizens.

Speaking on youth involvement in politics and governance, the aspirant said young leaders must be given opportunities to introduce innovation and fresh ideas into public service.

Political observers and supporters at the event described his declaration as part of a broader movement pushing for a new generation of leadership in Imo State and across the country.

They argued that experienced political leaders and stakeholders should support credible young aspirants capable of driving reforms and sustainable development in the state.

Ezeagu’s entry into the governorship race has already sparked reactions within the state’s political circle as parties and stakeholders continue to assess the unfolding political landscape ahead of the next election.
