Nasarawa Police Announce Movement Restrictions Ahead of Tinubu’s APC Rally
The Nasarawa State Police Command have announced temporary movement restrictions and traffic diversions across parts of Lafia metropolis ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
The rally is expected to coincide with President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the state capital and attract government officials, political leaders, dignitaries and party supporters from different parts of the country.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the restrictions were part of security arrangements designed to ensure the safety of the President, his entourage, rally participants and members of the public.
According to the police, the temporary measures will affect designated routes, adjoining roads and strategic locations within Lafia to facilitate the movement of the presidential convoy and ensure effective crowd management.
The command advised motorists, commercial tricycle operators, motorcycle riders and other road users to cooperate with security personnel, obey traffic regulations and follow instructions at designated diversion points.
Commuters were also encouraged to plan their journeys ahead, make allowances for possible delays, use alternative routes as directed and avoid unnecessary stops or obstruction of major roads leading to the rally venue.
Business owners, transport operators and residents within the affected areas were equally advised to make necessary arrangements for their daily activities ahead of the temporary restrictions.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, appealed to residents to remain calm, exercise patience and cooperate with security personnel throughout the period.
He further urged members of the public to avoid unnecessary movement around restricted areas, particularly those without legitimate business at the rally venue and designated security zones.
The police commissioner also called on political stakeholders, party supporters and residents to conduct themselves peacefully and refrain from actions capable of disrupting public order.
Opposition parties and other political groups were equally advised to respect the rights of others and maintain peaceful political participation during the event.
The command assured residents that adequate security personnel had been deployed to strategic locations across the metropolis to maintain law and order, manage traffic and protect lives and property.
It also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or security concerns to the nearest police station.
While regretting any inconvenience the temporary arrangements might cause, the command solicited the cooperation and understanding of residents.
The rally is part of the APC’s political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party had earlier organised a North-Central mobilisation rally in Lafia in October, attracting governors, ministers, party leaders and supporters from across the region.
