Ebonyi Residents Back Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election, Applaud Umahi’s Appointment
Thousands of residents of Uburu, in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, have expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, commending his appointment of Senator David Umahi as Minister of Works and citing federal infrastructure investments.
The residents made their position known during a homecoming reception for Umahi on November 2, 2026, following his stakeholder engagements in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The gathering, organised informally by community members, attracted residents from various communities in Uburu and Ohaozara, who celebrated Umahi’s appointment and expressed appreciation to Tinubu for giving him the opportunity to serve at the federal level.
Community leaders and stakeholders, including Onu Okorie, Prince Mathew and Comrade Kingsley Obini, addressed the gathering, highlighting Umahi’s role in the Federal Executive Council and his experience in infrastructure development.
The speakers described the minister’s appointment as an opportunity for the South-East to gain greater attention to its infrastructure needs, particularly road and bridge development.
They called for sustained federal investment in the region’s road networks, noting that improved infrastructure would enhance transportation, facilitate trade and strengthen economic activities for residents and businesses.
The community members also linked their endorsement of Tinubu’s second-term ambition to the administration’s infrastructure initiatives and Umahi’s appointment as Minister of Works.
The reception came after Umahi held a series of consultations with stakeholders in Abakaliki on issues relating to political and developmental matters affecting Ebonyi State and the country.
