FCT Police Arrest Pastor, Accomplice Over Alleged Interstate Vehicle Theft
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested a pastor, Edwin Nwabueze, alongside another suspect, Sadiq Jamiu, over their alleged involvement in the theft of a Toyota Camry in Abuja.
The vehicle was reportedly stolen at UTC Plaza in the Garki District of the Federal Capital Territory.
The police disclosed that Nwabueze, who identified himself as a pastor with Salvation Power Bible Ministry in the North Bank area of Benue State, was arrested at his residence on October 27, following sustained investigations into the incident.
According to the police, the suspect hails from Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State but currently resides in Benue State.
Following his arrest, Nwabueze reportedly led police operatives to another location, where his alleged accomplice, Jamiu, was also apprehended.
Preliminary investigations have reportedly linked the principal suspect to previous arrests by the Benue State Police Command in connection with vehicle theft cases.
The FCT Police Command further disclosed that investigations indicated that the suspects were members of an interstate vehicle theft syndicate allegedly involved in stealing and selling vehicles across different states.
The police said investigations were ongoing to determine the full extent of the group’s activities and identify other members who are currently at large.
The command added that both suspects remain in police custody and would be charged in court after the conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the police have urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station to support efforts against criminal activities.
