Delta APC Promises “Report Card” Campaign For 2027, Vows No Rigging, Warns Supporters Against Violence
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has pledged to run an issue-based campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party has also declared that it will not engage in electoral malpractice and has cautioned politicians and their supporters against violence and inflammatory statements that could threaten the peace of the state.
The assurance was given on Monday in Asaba by Charles Aniagwu, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Delta State APC Campaign Council, while he unveiled members of the committee to journalists. Aniagwu named Valentine Onojeguo as vice chairman.
He said the party would “stay with the issues” and anchor its campaign on the policies, programmes and achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration at the federal level and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s government in the state. “We will show our report card,” he said.
According to him, the committee’s responsibility goes beyond the presidential and governorship races to cover all APC candidates seeking seats in the Delta State House of Assembly, the House of Representatives and the Senate.
He added that the committee will work with the media to give voters accurate information about the party’s candidates, and urged campaign officials and supporters to avoid hate speech, character assassination and false propaganda.
The pledge comes as parties in the state begin to put their campaign structures in place. Oborevwori became the first incumbent Delta governor to leave the Peoples Democratic Party since 1999 when he joined the APC on April 23, 2025, together with his predecessor Ifeanyi Okowa and other elected officials, and a number of lawmakers from the state have since followed.
Other parties are also making similar promises, with the Accord Party’s governorship candidate, Fred Obi, saying Deltans should expect an issue-based, grassroots-driven campaign from his party, while the Labour Party says it will lean on grassroots support, with education and infrastructure expected to feature in its message.
