Gombe Sets Up Committee to Share Assets, Liabilities Among 24 Councils
The Gombe State Government has inaugurated a committee to oversee the sharing of assets and liabilities between its 11 existing Local Government Areas and 13 Local Council Development Areas.
The move aims to create clear records and improve resource management at the grassroots.
Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Sani Ahmed Haruna, announced the initiative while addressing committee members. He said the exercise would promote transparency, accountability and effective management of public resources across the state’s administrative structures.
Haruna praised Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for setting up the committee and described it as an important step towards stronger accountability. He urged the lead consultant, Dr Bala Auta, and his team to carry out the assignment with professionalism and diligence.
The commissioner noted that the committee has been deployed across the state’s three senatorial zones to ensure balanced coordination and smooth execution. He expressed confidence that the exercise would produce accurate records for both the existing local governments and the newly created development areas.
In his remarks, Dr Auta assured the government and residents that the team would work diligently in the interest of Gombe State. He said the committee was committed to producing credible and reliable records that would serve both the old and new administrative units.
