Tinubu to Visit Rivers on November 7 as Wike Calls for Loyalty Ahead of 2027 Election
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to visit Rivers State on November 7 as part of activities surrounding his 2027 re-election campaign, with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, urging political allies to demonstrate commitment to the president’s ambition.
The planned visit forms part of the All Progressives Congress’ broader campaign mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political leaders intensify efforts to consolidate support across the country.
Wike, a former Rivers State governor, has continued to mobilise political support for Tinubu despite remaining a member of the Peoples Democratic Party. He has repeatedly declared his intention to work towards securing Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory for the president in the next presidential election.
The FCT minister has maintained that political cooperation across party lines is necessary to advance Tinubu’s re-election bid, while calling on his supporters and political associates to remain committed to the project.
Tinubu’s proposed visit to Rivers is expected to feature prominently in the ruling party’s campaign activities in the state, where political alignments and competition for influence remain significant ahead of the election.
The development comes as the APC expands its campaign structures to accommodate politicians from different political parties who support the president’s second-term ambition.
Wike’s role in the campaign has attracted attention because of his continued membership of the PDP while working to secure electoral support for an APC president. His political activities have also fuelled discussions about party loyalty and the relationship between individual political interests and formal party affiliations.
As preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, the planned presidential visit is expected to provide another opportunity for Tinubu’s supporters in Rivers State to demonstrate their backing for his re-election campaign.
