Police Arrest Suspect Saheed Babalola Over Alleged Mutilation of 18-Year-Old’s Corpse in Osun

The Osun State Police Command has arrested a man suspected of involvement in the alleged exhumation and mutilation of the corpse of an 18-year-old girl in Iwo, Osun State.

The incident reportedly occurred around midnight on Monday at Olomo’s Compound in the Fesu area of Iwo, days after the teenager was buried.

Residents said three suspected hoodlums allegedly dug up the grave and severed the deceased’s head before fleeing the scene.

One of the suspects was reportedly apprehended by members of the community and handed over to the police at the Iwo Divisional Police Headquarters.

The incident has caused concern among residents, with calls for security agencies to investigate the matter and arrest everyone involved.

The deceased’s mother, Fausat Olajire, expressed grief over the incident and appealed to the authorities to ensure justice was served and help recover her daughter’s remains.

She said she was informed that the arrested suspect claimed he had come from an herbalist’s residence before carrying out the alleged act.

The mother condemned the incident and urged the police to intensify efforts to locate the missing part of her daughter’s body and bring all those responsible to justice.

As of the time of reporting, the police had yet to issue an official statement on the incident or provide further details about the suspect’s arrest.

The investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime and determine whether other individuals were involved.
