Elon Musk Donates 276 Million Dollars to Support Republicans in US Midterm Elections
Billionaire, Elon Musk has reportedly contributed 276 million dollars to organisations supporting Republican candidates ahead of the United States midterm elections.
The contribution is part of his total political spending of 366 million dollars so far in the 2026 election cycle, according to data first reported by The New York Times and confirmed by a spokesperson for America PAC.
According to the breakdown, 158 million dollars was allocated to the Senate Leadership Fund, 20 million dollars to the Congressional Leadership Fund, 76 million dollars to America PAC, 10 million dollars to the Lone Star Liberty PAC, 10 million dollars to the Republican Governors Association and 2 million dollars to the Republican Attorneys General Association.
The report indicates that Musk has become the largest known donor in the current midterm cycle, with his political organisation active in seven battleground states and nearly three dozen House races.
The development represents a shift from his position in May when he stated that he had done enough in politics and intended to reduce future spending. At that time he signaled a plan to cut back on political involvement.
In a statement credited to America PAC, the group said the investments were intended to help Republicans maintain a fighting chance to retain control of Congress and key state executive positions in November.
The spending comes at a time when Musk continues to hold major government contracts through SpaceX and maintains a public profile after serving in the Department of Government Efficiency under President Donald Trump. Forbes reports that his net worth has again risen above one trillion dollars.
