PRESS STATEMENT

BAT-IG Congratulates Convener, Lagos and Jigawa Coordinators on Appointments to 2027 Presidential Campaign Council

October 13, 2026

The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group (BAT-IG) has congratulated its Convener, Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi, and its Lagos and Jigawa State Coordinators, Hon. Babatunde Qudus Ishola and Hon. Najib Rabiu, respectively, on their selection into the 2027 Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Group described the appointments as a recognition of their commitment to political mobilisation, ideological advocacy, grassroots engagement and the promotion of policies and programmes associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The three appointments represent an important opportunity for BAT-IG to contribute more directly to the communication, coordination and mobilisation efforts of the President’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general election.

Comrade Atoyebi, the Convener of BAT-IG, has continued to champion a political philosophy that places ideological clarity, public engagement and practical solutions to governance challenges at the centre of political participation. Through his advocacy and public commentary, he has consistently emphasised the importance of communicating government policies, identifying gaps in implementation and connecting citizens with opportunities arising from government programmes.

Under his leadership, BAT-IG has expanded its grassroots engagement initiatives, including its Home-Cell strategy, which seeks to establish community-level platforms for political education, information sharing and citizen engagement. The Group has also pursued youth mobilisation initiatives designed to encourage young Nigerians to understand government programmes, share relevant information and participate actively in their communities.

In May 2026, BAT-IG announced a nationwide initiative to engage more than 10,000 young Nigerians across the country’s 8,809 electoral wards as grassroots advocates of government policies and programmes. The initiative reflects the Group’s commitment to extending political communication beyond conventional media channels and building a network of citizens capable of sharing information about public interventions and programmes at the community level.

The Group believes that Atoyebi’s experience in ideological mobilisation, policy advocacy and grassroots organisation will be valuable to the broader campaign effort.

Similarly, the selection of Hon. Babatunde Qudus Ishola, the Lagos State Coordinator of BAT-IG, is an opportunity to bring his political engagement and coordination responsibilities within the Group to bear on the campaign’s communication objectives. His inclusion in the New Media Committee provides a platform for strengthening digital engagement, expanding the campaign’s reach and encouraging responsible communication with voters, particularly young people who increasingly depend on digital platforms for political information.

As political communication continues to evolve, the effective use of new media will remain essential to explaining policy decisions, countering misinformation with verifiable information, engaging citizens and communicating the administration’s programmes to a wider audience.

The Group also congratulated Hon. Najib Rabiu, its Jigawa State Coordinator, on his selection into the Directorate of Funding of the 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.

BAT-IG noted that campaign financing and resource mobilisation are important to the successful coordination of political activities across the country. It expressed confidence that his experience within the Group’s organisational structure would contribute to the responsibilities associated with his new assignment.

The Group further observed that the inclusion of its leaders in different campaign structures reflects the importance of building connections between ideological organisations, grassroots networks and the broader political machinery of the APC.

According to BAT-IG, the appointments come at a significant time when political organisations must strengthen their structures, communicate their positions clearly and engage citizens on issues affecting their daily lives.

The Group reiterated its commitment to promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda through political education, policy communication, youth engagement and community-based mobilisation. It maintained that effective political participation must go beyond public declarations to include consistent engagement with citizens, the dissemination of credible information and constructive conversations about governance.

BAT-IG also stressed that the responsibility accompanying the appointments extends beyond recognition or personal achievement. It requires diligence, discipline, collaboration and a clear understanding of the expectations of the offices and committees to which the appointees have been assigned.

The Group therefore urged the three leaders to discharge their responsibilities with integrity and dedication, while working collaboratively with other members of the Presidential Campaign Council to advance the campaign’s objectives.

It also called on BAT-IG members, coordinators and supporters across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to remain committed to the Group’s vision of combining ideological advocacy with grassroots engagement and practical community interventions.

As the 2027 general election approaches, BAT-IG expressed confidence that the collective efforts of its members and other stakeholders will contribute to a more organised, informed and effective campaign in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The Group congratulated Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi, Hon. Babatunde Qudus Ishola and Hon. Najib Rabiu once again, wishing them success as they assume their respective responsibilities within the 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
