Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation Distributes Football Boots to 350 KKL Players
The Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation has distributed football boots to 350 players participating in the Kwara Kiddies League (KKL) as part of its ongoing grassroots football development initiative.
The distribution exercise, held in Ilorin, brought together young players, coaches, league organizers and stakeholders in youth football development.
According to organizers, the gesture is aimed at supporting talented young players at the grassroots level and encouraging them to pursue their football dreams with the right equipment. Each of the 350 players received a pair of football boots.
The Kwara Kiddies League is a youth football competition established to discover and nurture young talents across Kwara State. The foundation’s support is expected to boost the morale of the players and enhance their performance.
Speaking at the event, officials of the foundation reaffirmed the commitment of Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi to giving back to the society and investing in the next generation of football stars through education and sports development.
They noted that providing basic football equipment like boots is crucial to helping young players train properly and compete confidently, especially for children from less privileged backgrounds who cannot afford quality kits.
The initiative is also seen as part of efforts to reduce social vices by keeping young people engaged in productive sporting activities. Organizers of the KKL said the partnership with the Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation has continued to grow youth participation in the league.
Beneficiaries and coaches commended the foundation for the initiative, describing it as a major motivation for grassroots football in the state. Some of the players expressed joy over the donation, saying the new boots would inspire them to work harder on and off the pitch.
Parents and guardians who were present at the indoor sports hall also lauded Awoniyi for remembering his roots and investing in children in Kwara, noting that such gestures create a sense of belonging for young talents.
The Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation has been involved in several community development projects, including educational support, community sports tournaments and empowerment programmes. The foundation said it will continue to support grassroots football and create opportunities for young Nigerians to achieve their potential through sports.
