One Million-Man March: Jigawa Youths Mobilise Support For Tinubu, Namadi
Hundreds of youths have taken to the streets of Gumel and Hadejia, Jigawa State, to declare support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The rally, described by organisers as a “One-Million-Man March”, was held under the banner of the Danmodi Visuals Political Network and other pro-APC support groups. Participants marched through major streets waving APC flags, brooms, and carrying posters, banners and billboards bearing the images of Tinubu and Namadi, with many wearing orange caps.
According to organisers, the mobilisation was designed to secure more than two million votes for President Tinubu in Jigawa in 2027.
Speaking at the event in Hadejia Zone, the Chairman of the movement, Salihu Atafi, said the group was supporting the Tinubu administration because of what it described as tangible progress in security, education, agriculture and economic reforms.
Atafi acknowledged that the removal of fuel subsidy had caused hardship but argued the policy would yield long-term economic benefits. He also commended the Students’ Loan Scheme and other Renewed Hope initiatives.
The rally is part of a wider ground game in Jigawa. The City Boy Movement, led in the state by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Haruna Aliyu, said it has established structures across all 4,522 polling units in the state’s 27 LGAs, with five mobilisers per unit – 22,610 personnel in total – tasked with house-to-house campaigns for Tinubu/Namadi.
Governor Namadi, who has described his pledge to deliver over one million votes for Tinubu as “irreversible”, praised the turnout as a sign of growing confidence in the APC. The APC had polled over 421,000 votes in Jigawa in 2023.
The Gumel/Hadejia march follows similar endorsement rallies in Ringim and Dutse LGAs, where defectors from PDP, ADC and NDC were received into the APC.
