NIGERIA AT 66: FINTIRI SAYS NATION ON THRESHOLD OF BETTER FUTURE

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, says Nigeria is on the threshold of a better future as the country celebrates its 66th Independence Anniversary.

Fintiri made this known on Wednesday in a goodwill message to Nigerians to mark the Independence Day celebration.

In the statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, the Governor said the 66th anniversary is more than a celebration of self-rule, but a moment for sober reflection on the nation’s journey.

He said the anniversary provides an opportunity to honour the heroes of independence and to renew commitment to the ideals of the nation’s founding fathers.

Fintiri paid tribute to nationalists including Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Sir Ahmadu Bello, whose courage and sacrifices secured Nigeria’s independence on October 1, 1960.

According to him, the vision of a united, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria that inspired the founding generation remains a collective responsibility for the present generation.

The Governor also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for their gallantry and patriotism in defending the country’s territorial integrity, acknowledging their sacrifices in the face of current security challenges.

He praised Nigerians for their resilience, patience and enduring faith despite economic and social difficulties, describing them as a resilient and enterprising people.

Fintiri further thanked the people of Adamawa State for their continued support for his administration, noting that their cooperation has enabled the government to deliver democratic dividends and make the state a destination for business and investment.

He assured residents that no ongoing project initiated by his administration would be abandoned, promising to deliver sustainable infrastructure that will leave a lasting legacy for the state.

The Governor expressed optimism that with unity, hard work and collective resolve, Nigeria will overcome its present challenges and emerge stronger.
