2027: Shettima Seeks Northern Artists’ Support For Tinubu’s Re-election
Vice President Kashim Shettima has appealed to Northern professionals in the creative industry to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Shettima made the call on Wednesday in Abuja when he received a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the auspices of Triple-R For Renewed Hope at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign office.
According to the Vice President, President Tinubu deserves the collective support of the North in the interest of fairness, equity and the unity of the Nigerian project.
He said the Tinubu administration is implementing deliberate policies to grow the creative economy, empower local talent, preserve cultural heritage and create economic opportunities for artists, filmmakers and musicians in the region.
“The President deserves the collective support of the North,” Shettima said. He assured the delegation that the Federal Government will continue to roll out targeted interventions to support creative professionals, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
Shettima urged the artists to remain steadfast with the government and the APC, noting that the benefits of the administration’s economic reforms and Renewed Hope Agenda will continue to manifest across different sectors in the coming months and years.
Speaking earlier, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, said Tinubu’s re-election bid will be based on verifiable achievements and performance in office. He urged the group to disregard claims that the North has been excluded from government appointments and projects.
Former Katsina Governor and Deputy Director-General of the Campaign Council, Aminu Bello Masari, urged creative professionals to take advantage of opportunities created by the administration to improve their livelihoods.
Also speaking, APC National Chairman and former Kano Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, thanked the group for its support and called for greater investment in infrastructure and training for emerging artists in the North.
In his response, President of Triple-R For Renewed Hope, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, popularly known as Rarara, pledged the group’s full support for President Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 elections, while calling for more federal support to reorganise the creative industry and improve the welfare of practitioners in the North.
