Army Troops Destroy Pressure-Plate IED Found in Gwoza

Troops of the Nigerian Army have uncovered and destroyed a pressure-plate Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The explosive was discovered at about 3:50 p.m. on September 28 by troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade, Gwoza, during operations in the area.

According to the report, the device was located approximately 400 metres away from a road near the troops’ position, prompting the deployment of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to handle the threat.

The EOD personnel successfully rendered the device safe before detonating it at the location.

No casualties were recorded during the operation.

The discovery and subsequent destruction of the IED helped avert a potential danger to soldiers and motorists travelling along the road in the area.
