The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for Lagos State in 2027, Dr Kadri Hamzat, has described himself as the best person for the position.

The current Deputy Governor said his deep understanding of the history and politics of Lagos sets him apart.

Hamzat made the remarks on Sunday at the 70th Harvest Anniversary and Thanksgiving Service of the Cherubim and Seraphim Society, Olorunsogo Parish, in Ese-Ofin, Lagos.

He stressed that anyone who does not understand the state’s history and politics would struggle to govern it effectively.

He pointed out that Lagos contributes more than 33 per cent of Nigeria’s GDP and should not be treated lightly.

Hamzat warned residents to be cautious of politicians who make unrealistic promises during campaigns, saying the APC would not make false claims because it understands the real situation in the state.

The Deputy Governor outlined his long experience in government, noting that he was invited by then-Governor Bola Tinubu in 2005 while working in New York. Since then, he has served as Commissioner for Science and Technology, Commissioner for Works, and now as Deputy Governor.

Hamzat urged Lagos residents and Nigerians to continue praying for the country. The event was also attended by the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, as well as traditional rulers, APC leaders, commissioners and lawmakers.
