At least five miners have been killed and two others injured following an attack by armed men at a mining site in Plateau State.

The incident occurred in Marit village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, where the miners were carrying out their activities when the attackers struck.

Community sources said the gunmen opened fire on the miners, causing panic and forcing others at the site to flee for safety. Five victims were killed during the attack, while two others sustained injuries.
