Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has arrived in camp in Uyo, ending concerns about his availability for Nigeria’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed his arrival with a welcome post on the team’s official account.

Okoye was the last member of the 24-man squad to report, having missed the first two training sessions. His delayed arrival drew criticism after he was seen at Milan Fashion Week, where he represented his Italian club Udinese and modelled the team’s third kit.

Super Eagles coach Éric Chelle explained that Udinese had requested the goalkeeper to remain in Italy for some club activities before joining the national team. With Okoye now in camp, the coach has all three goalkeeping options available.

The Udinese shot-stopper joins first-choice Stanley Nwabali and Arthur Okonkwo in the goalkeeping unit.
Nigeria face Madagascar at 5pm today at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

The match is the Super Eagles’ first Group L fixture in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers. Okoye’s presence gives the coaching staff greater flexibility as they prepare for the important encounter.
