Why Some Music Videos Cost Over $100,000, Explains TG Omori
Nigerian music video director, ThankGod Omori, popularly known as TG Omori, has revealed that some of the videos he has worked on cost more than $100,000 to produce. He made the disclosure during an interview on the Afropolitan podcast.
Omori said directors are often reluctant to discuss budgets because production costs depend heavily on the concept and location. He explained that revealing the figures can sometimes discourage people or make the creative work appear less valuable.
According to him, videos shot in the United States, especially in cities like Las Vegas and Los Angeles, tend to be more expensive. Extra costs such as insurance and hourly rates push the overall budget higher, and payments are made in dollars.
He confirmed that many of these foreign productions go well above $100,000. Omori added that he has also produced some videos in Nigeria for around the same amount, noting that such projects are usually more profitable when done locally.
The director said working with local artisans in Nigeria can help achieve elaborate designs at lower cost, but it requires close supervision. He noted that while this approach saves money, directors often have to monitor every detail of the process to get the desired result.
