Wike Spurns Uzodimma’s Bid to Become Senate President
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will not support Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma in any bid to become President of the Nigerian Senate.
Wike made the statement on Monday while appearing on a television programme, where he discussed political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The FCT minister questioned Uzodimma’s plan to leave the governorship and seek election to the Senate after his tenure ends in January 2028.
According to Wike, Uzodimma would be seeking to move from the governorship to the National Assembly with the intention of eventually becoming Senate President.
Wike, however, stated that he would not support such an ambition, making his position on Uzodimma’s proposed political move clear.
The disagreement adds to the growing political differences between Wike and the Imo governor, who is also involved in discussions surrounding political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
