The Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force in efforts to guarantee security during future elections across the country.

The pledge was made during discussions on strengthening election security and enhancing the operational readiness of security personnel responsible for safeguarding the electoral process.

The Fund emphasized the importance of adequate training, logistics, equipment and capacity-building programmes for police officers deployed for election duties, noting that effective preparation is critical to maintaining peace before, during and after elections.

Officials stated that the organisation would continue to partner with relevant institutions to improve the capabilities of the police and ensure that officers are equipped to respond professionally to election-related challenges.

The NPTF also stressed the need for collaboration among security agencies, electoral stakeholders and communities to create an environment that promotes credible, peaceful and transparent elections.

According to the Fund, strengthening the capacity of the police remains essential to protecting lives, securing electoral materials and maintaining public confidence in the democratic process.

The assurance comes as security agencies and other stakeholders continue preparations aimed at improving election management and preventing violence during future polls.
