Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo has described the ruling All Progressives Congress’s victory in four of five recent bye elections as a significant signal ahead of the 2027 general elections, boldly predicting that President Bola Tinubu will be declared winner of the presidential race.

Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, made the remarks in a statement on his social media account. He said the APC won four of the five Federal and State Assembly constituencies contested across the North West, North East and South South. The party’s wins came in Kano, Bauchi, Gombe and Delta State, while it lost one State Assembly seat in Bauchi to the Allied Peoples Movement.

The minister stressed that the spread of the victories across three geopolitical regions was what made them important. He pointed to the constitutional requirement that a presidential candidate must secure at least 25 per cent of the votes in two thirds of the states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, saying the provision reflects the diverse nature of the country.

Keyamo declined to say more about what he called the significant factor in presidential elections, saying he would keep his gunpowder dry for now. He promised a fuller analysis on January 19 or 20, 2027, the date he expects Tinubu to be declared winner, and said the “usual wailings” from the opposition would begin then. He urged readers to bookmark his post and ended it with the Pidgin declaration, “No be cho cho cho.”

The statement comes as the political temperature rises ahead of 2027, with the APC and a fast forming opposition already trading claims over their strength across the regions.
