Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have disrupted criminal activities in Zamfara State, rescuing three injured civilians and recovering 117 suspected rustled cattle, other livestock and a stolen Toyota Camry.

The operations were carried out as part of ongoing security efforts aimed at restoring peace and protecting communities and road users across the state.

Following a distress call over an attack on travellers along the Dampo–Rumba Road in Bakura Local Government Area, troops quickly moved to the scene and engaged the armed attackers.

The military’s response forced the assailants to withdraw into the surrounding bush, leaving behind three civilians who had sustained injuries during the attack.

The troops administered first aid to the victims before evacuating them to a medical facility for further treatment. The road was subsequently secured, while patrols were intensified along the route to protect commuters.

In a separate intelligence-led operation around the Magami axis, troops intercepted five trucks suspected of conveying rustled livestock towards Gusau.

A search of the vehicles resulted in the recovery of 117 cows, two donkeys, one goat and five cow skins.

The recovered livestock and other items were handed over to the Chairman of the Zamfara State Committee on the Recovery of Rustled Animals in Gusau for appropriate action and efforts to identify and reunite the animals with their rightful owners.

Meanwhile, troops operating in Tsafe Local Government Area also recovered a stolen Toyota Camry following intelligence shared among joint tracking teams.

The driver reportedly failed to stop when signalled and fled towards a nearby community. Troops pursued the vehicle, forcing its occupants to abandon it and escape on foot.

The recovered vehicle was secured for further administrative and legal proceedings.

The latest operations highlight continued efforts by security forces to disrupt bandit activities, recover stolen property and livestock, protect civilians and restrict the movement of criminal elements across Zamfara State.
