A political support group in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State, known as the Azerbaijan Movement, has organised a 600-man solidarity walk to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The procession brought together APC members, women leaders, youths and other supporters who marched through major streets in Ifako-Ijaiye in support of the party and its candidates.

The walk began at Elliot and moved through major streets in the local government before ending at Nationwide.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the coordinator of the movement, Abayomi Omotayo, said the event was organised to demonstrate the group’s backing for the APC and strengthen its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.

“The walk is to demonstrate our support for the APC and its candidates, and to show our commitment to grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections,” Omotayo said.

He said the group would focus particularly on mobilising residents to support Tinubu’s bid for another term in the 2027 presidential election.

“We are committed to mobilising our people to support President Tinubu as we approach the 2027 presidential election,” he said.

Omotayo said the movement believed Tinubu’s policies were creating what it described as a foundation for sustainable development and called on residents to support the administration.

“We believe the policies of President Tinubu are laying the foundation for sustainable development, and we are calling on residents to support his administration,” he said.

The group also declared its support for Adewale Adedeji, the APC candidate for Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly election.

Omotayo said Adedeji had contributed to the constituency through initiatives in education, infrastructure and empowerment, adding that the movement believed his efforts should receive public support.

“Adewale Adedeji has continued to impact the constituency through educational, infrastructure and empowerment initiatives. We believe his efforts deserve the support of the people,” he said.

The coordinator urged APC members and supporters in Ifako-Ijaiye to maintain unity and step up mobilisation across the local government’s six wards as the 2027 elections approach.

He said sustained engagement with residents at the grassroots would remain important to the group’s mobilisation efforts.
