Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents to immediately report suspicious individuals and movements to security agencies following reports of planned terrorist attacks on places of worship in the state.

Adeleke, in a statement responding to the reported threats, called for increased vigilance, particularly in communities along the state’s borders where residents may notice an influx of unfamiliar persons.

The governor said timely intelligence from residents would help security agencies identify and prevent potential threats before they escalate.

He also commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for its proactive response to the reported threats and directed other security agencies to reassess the security situation and strengthen measures to protect lives and property.

Adeleke said he would convene a meeting of the State Security Council to review the threats and evaluate the effectiveness of existing response plans.

He further urged residents to exercise caution over people they accommodate in their communities and called on traditional rulers to convene meetings of their councils to discuss the security concerns.

According to the governor, community cooperation with security agencies through prompt information sharing was essential to preventing attacks and maintaining public order.

He added that his administration remained committed to post-election peacebuilding and would take steps to prevent terrorists and bandits from disrupting peace across the state.
