Former Bayelsa State Governor and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has declared that he is neither a member of the Obidient Movement nor the Kwankwasiyya political group, insisting that his political allegiance remains with the NDC.

Dickson made the clarification during a television interview while discussing political alignments and coalition-building ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He explained that although the NDC maintains cordial relationships with various political groups and opposition figures, it operates as an independent political movement with its own vision and objectives.

According to him, efforts to associate him with either the Obidient or Kwankwasiyya camps are misplaced, stressing that his focus is on strengthening the NDC and promoting its political agenda.

The former governor noted that collaboration among opposition groups remains important in a democratic system but emphasized that such cooperation should not be mistaken for membership of another political movement.

Dickson also called for greater unity among political stakeholders seeking reforms, arguing that broad-based engagement would be necessary to address the country’s challenges and deepen democratic governance.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the NDC, stating that the movement would continue to pursue its goals and engage with Nigerians ahead of future political contests.
