NIS Seeks Details of UK-Based Nigerians Yet to Receive Contactless Passports
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has called on Nigerians in the United Kingdom who completed applications through its Contactless Passport service but have not received their passports to submit their information for investigation and resolution.
The Service made the appeal in a statement posted on its official X account on Sunday, asking affected applicants to complete a designated Contactless Passport Application Resolution Form.
Applicants are required to provide details including their full names, contact information, application and reference numbers, as well as their current location in the UK.
The form also asks applicants to state whether they submitted a self-addressed envelope and their old passports to the Nigerian High Commission. They are further required to indicate whether they have previously tracked the status of their applications.
The NIS said the information provided would be compiled and assessed, with complaints expected to be reviewed three working days after submission.
The Service urged affected Nigerians to exercise patience as efforts continue to address outstanding issues with the contactless passport process.
The move comes shortly after the NIS announced the deployment of a passport intervention team to four UK cities to assist Nigerians with passport applications, renewals and unresolved cases.
The intervention exercise is scheduled to take place in London and Manchester from September 7 to 19, while officials will visit Aberdeen and Cardiff from September 21 to 26.
According to the NIS, the exercise is aimed at clearing the backlog of pending passport applications in the United Kingdom.
Nigerians seeking fresh passports or renewals were advised to submit their applications and complete payment through the NIS Passport Application Portal before attending the intervention exercise.
