Dangote Cement Hosts London Investors Ahead of Proposed LSE Listing

Dangote Cement Plc will host investors and other stakeholders in London on September 21, 2026, as the company moves forward with plans for a proposed secondary listing of its shares on the London Stock Exchange.

The cement manufacturer will hold a Capital Markets Day in London, where its senior management is expected to discuss the company’s strategy, operations, growth plans and business priorities with investors.

The company disclosed this in a statement issued on September 2 and signed by its Secretary, Edward Imoedemhe.

The event follows the company’s May 12 announcement and subsequent shareholder approval for the proposed secondary listing.

According to Dangote Cement, the Capital Markets Day will provide investors with a clearer understanding of its business direction while creating an opportunity for engagement with senior management.

The company said details of the programme and other logistical information would be released later, while presentation materials from the event would be made available to the market in accordance with applicable disclosure requirements.

The proposed London listing is part of Dangote Cement’s efforts to expand its international investor base and gain greater access to global capital markets.

Dangote Group President, Aliko Dangote, had earlier announced plans for the cement company to pursue a dual listing in London in 2026.

Dangote told the Financial Times that the company planned to sell about 10 per cent of its shares to external investors as part of the proposed listing.

The company had considered listing in London as far back as 2018 but was unable to proceed amid stringent listing requirements and the financial demands associated with the development of its refinery in Nigeria.

Changes to UK listing rules by the Financial Conduct Authority have since made the London market more attractive to the company.

The planned overseas listing also aligns with Dangote Group’s broader strategy of accessing international and African capital markets to finance its expansion.

The group has separately announced plans to list Dangote Refinery, its 650,000-barrel-per-day facility, on multiple African stock exchanges. Dangote said in April that about 10 per cent of the refinery could be offered on the exchanges to raise funds for further expansion across the group’s industrial businesses.

Dangote Cement’s push to attract more international investors comes amid improved financial performance.

For the six months ended June 30, 2026, the company reported a pre-tax profit of N981.39 billion, up 34.43 per cent from N730.03 billion recorded during the same period in 2025.

Profit after tax increased by 22.69 per cent to N638.53 billion, while earnings per share rose to N38.22 from N30.74 in the corresponding period of the previous year.
