Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr is set to make history as the first Afrobeats artiste to headline the halftime show of an NFL London Game.

The Grammy-nominated singer, whose real name is Oyinkansola Aderigbigbe, will perform at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 11, when the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Her scheduled appearance marks a major milestone for Afrobeats, further expanding the genre’s presence on one of the world’s biggest sporting and entertainment platforms.

The singer expressed excitement over the opportunity, describing the performance as a dream come true and highlighting her connection to London.

“I am so excited to perform at the NFL halftime show. London is one of my favourite places in the world and to bring Starrgirl to the NFL global stage is a dream come true for me,” she said.

The performance comes shortly after the release of her third studio album, Starrgirl, which was released on August 14.

The 16-track project features collaborations with prominent artistes, including Nigerian stars Wizkid and Rema, British singer ZAYN and American artiste Leon Thomas.

The album has continued to attract attention from fans and fellow musicians, adding to the momentum surrounding the singer ahead of her NFL appearance.

Ayra Starr’s selection for the London halftime show also underscores the growing international reach of Afrobeats and the increasing visibility of African artistes on major global entertainment stages.

The NFL London Game forms part of the league’s international programme as it continues to expand its audience and presence outside the United States.
