Troops of the 28 Special Forces Brigade have successfully repelled an attempted attack by a large group of terrorists targeting a military barracks and two communities in Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The operation took place on August 26, 2026.

The incident began around 9:20 a.m. when troops stationed at Forward Operating Base Sifawa, working with personnel from FOB Shagari, the 8 Division Strike Team and a Mobile Strike Team, received intelligence about the movement of the attackers near Dandin Mahe and Danchadi villages.

Security sources said the terrorists tried to attack Sifawa Barracks while also launching assaults on Badau and Danchadi communities in the same local government area. The troops engaged them in a fierce exchange of fire, forcing the attackers to withdraw from the area.

Sadly, one soldier lost his life during the encounter. His remains were taken to the morgue at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital in Sokoto. Two tyres of an Armoured Personnel Carrier were damaged, while the fuel tank and side mirrors of a Buffalo General Transport vehicle were also destroyed.

After the engagement, the troops maintained their presence in the area and continued efforts to track the fleeing attackers. The operation is part of ongoing security measures aimed at protecting communities and military installations in the state.
