The German Embassy in Nigeria has cautioned citizens against depending on information from so-called visa agents when applying for visas. The embassy shared the advice in a post on its official X account on Wednesday.

It urged Nigerians to seek visa-related details only from official sources. The mission said people should avoid the trouble caused by false claims and instead contact the embassy directly for accurate guidance.

The embassy also invited members of the public to share some of the things they have heard from visa agents in the comments section. It promised to address those claims in future posts to clear up common misunderstandings.

Officials made it clear that the embassy has no partnerships or working arrangements with any visa agents. All necessary information, they stressed, is freely available on the official website.

The warning comes as misleading details about visa procedures continue to circulate. The embassy advised Nigerians to always verify such information through proper channels to avoid extra costs, confusion and possible fraud.
