The family of veteran Nollywood actor, Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced the remaining programmes for the completion of his burial rites.

Ogogo, who died at the age of 66 on Sunday, August 23, 2026, was buried according to Islamic rites in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 24.

His death was announced by fellow veteran actor Jide Kosoko, with several colleagues and associates from the Yoruba film industry, including Yinka Quadri and Femi Adebayo, attending the burial.

In a statement shared on Facebook on Wednesday, Kosoko said the family would hold an eighth-day Fidau prayer for the late actor on Monday, August 31, in Ilaro.

The family also announced an Artists’ Day to commemorate Ogogo’s life and career, scheduled to take place 40 days after his burial at the Pavilion Hall in Ilaro.

According to Kosoko, the event will bring together actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other entertainment professionals for performances celebrating the late actor’s contributions to the industry.

The programme will be coordinated by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).

The family appealed to Ogogo’s friends, colleagues, fans and other well-wishers to continue supporting them and attend the Fidau prayers as they seek prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased.

Kosoko also expressed appreciation to those who attended Ogogo’s burial, saying their presence demonstrated the affection and respect they had for the actor during his lifetime.

Ogogo’s death has generated widespread tributes from colleagues and fans, many of whom have acknowledged his influence on the development of Yoruba-language cinema.

The veteran actor began his career in the early 1980s and went on to establish himself as a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry, working across acting, film production and filmmaking.
