Ogogo’s Classic Line Inspired Burna Boy’s Hit ‘Last Last’

A memorable movie quote by late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is credited with inspiring one of Burna Boy’s biggest hits, “Last Last.”

In a film scene years ago, Ogogo delivered the line: “All of us will eat breakfast. It is the time all of us will eat it that differs.” The statement quickly entered Nigerian popular culture, with “breakfast” becoming a widely used metaphor for heartbreak or the end of a romantic relationship.

Burna Boy later drew on the same idea for his 2022 single “Last Last,” from the album *Love, Damini*. The song opens with the now-famous lyrics “E don cast, last last, na everybody go chop breakfast,” turning the everyday expression into a global Afrobeats anthem about heartbreak and moving on.

The track became one of Burna Boy’s most successful releases, earning multiple award nominations and widespread recognition. Following Ogogo’s recent passing, many fans and industry figures have revisited the connection between the actor’s classic line and the song that carried the phrase to an international audience.
