Manchester United have completed the signing of Cameroon midfielder, Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 22-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with the option of a further year.

The deal is worth an initial £65 million, rising to £70 million with add-ons. Brighton have also retained a sell-on clause. Baleba becomes United’s third midfield addition of the summer, following the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

United first showed strong interest in the player last year but were deterred by Brighton’s high valuation. They reignited their pursuit this summer and moved quickly once agreement was reached.

Baleba is currently recovering from an ankle ligament injury sustained in pre-season and is expected to be available by mid-September. He joined Brighton from Lille in 2023 and made 112 appearances for the Seagulls, establishing himself as a dynamic and physical presence in central midfield.

Speaking after the transfer was confirmed, Baleba said it was an incredible feeling to join the club of his dreams and that the chance to play for Manchester United at Old Trafford would be a real honour.
