Troops of Sector 8, Operation ENDURING PEACE, under Operation HARD KNOCK, have thwarted an attempted attack on Manja community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred on Saturday, August 22, 2026, following reports of armed men moving around the community.

Military sources said troops swiftly mobilised to the area, forcing the suspected attackers to retreat into nearby bushes with their cattle.

At about 4:12 p.m. on the same day, troops also responded to a separate report of an attempted infiltration of the community.

The security personnel launched a pursuit operation against the suspected attackers while reinforcing their presence around Manja and surrounding areas.

The troops subsequently conducted offensive patrols and clearance operations across the area to prevent further attempts to penetrate the community.

The latest development comes amid continued security challenges in parts of Plateau State, including attacks, cattle rustling and communal tensions.

Operation ENDURING PEACE has maintained security operations across vulnerable communities in the state, with troops working to deter attacks, protect residents and restrict the movement of criminal elements.

Security sources said operations are continuing to keep pressure on the suspected attackers and safeguard residents of Manja and neighbouring communities.
