Seven people have died while seven others sustained injuries in a road accident involving a Toyota Sienna and a Mazda vehicle along the Kutigi–Bida Road in Niger State.

The crash occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday at Shebe Village, when the Mazda, travelling from Minna towards Mokwa, reportedly collided with the Sienna while negotiating a blind corner.

The Mazda had reportedly left the Mobil Motor Park with eight passengers on board, while the Sienna was also carrying several passengers travelling from Lagos to Minna.

Seven occupants of the Mazda died in the accident, while a teenage girl, the only survivor from the vehicle, was rescued unconscious.

The seven passengers in the Sienna sustained injuries, while four other occupants escaped unhurt.

The accident also left authorities searching for the relatives of the teenage survivor.

Confirming the incident on Sunday night, the Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Aishat Saadu, said 18 people were involved in the crash.

Saadu said seven people were killed, seven injured and four others escaped without injuries.

She added that rescue operations were carried out at the scene following the crash, which occurred around 11:30 a.m. at Shebe Village along the Kutigi–Bida Road.
