A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after raping one woman and sexually assaulting another while on bail.

Olukanyinsola Odebode was convicted at Swansea Crown Court of one count of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.

The offences took place between June 2024 and September 2025. Odebode first sexually assaulted and raped a woman in the Gwent Police area. After his arrest and release on bail, he went on to sexually assault another woman in the Dyfed-Powys Police area.

Prosecutors told the court that Odebode posed a danger to women and that his actions had caused life-altering consequences for his victims.

A Probation Service report highlighted his lack of insight into his offending and his complete rejection of the jury’s findings, concluding that he posed a high risk of serious harm.

The court also heard that seven other women had reported concerns about Odebode’s sexual behaviour to police since 2019, though those matters did not result in convictions.

Judge Huw Rees described him as a sexually precocious person whose behaviour had a profound effect on the two victims.

Odebode was given a 12-year extended sentence, comprising nine years in custody followed by three years on licence. He must serve two-thirds of the custodial term before becoming eligible for parole and will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life.
