Ebonyi North APGA Candidate Urges Calm After Supporter’s Killing

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Chikaodili Ojemba, has appealed to party members to remain calm and avoid retaliation following the killing of an APGA supporter, Onwe Ubochi.

Ubochi was reportedly killed by unidentified assailants after attending an APGA-organised event in the area on Wednesday.

Ojemba made the appeal on Friday when he led other party leaders on a condolence visit to the deceased’s family at Umuogudu Oshia, Ngbo, in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Describing the incident as tragic, the senatorial candidate said the party would pursue justice through lawful means and urged members to allow security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing.

He called on the Ebonyi State Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to identify those responsible for the attack and bring them to justice.

Ojemba said the loss had affected not only Ubochi’s family but also members of APGA across the state, stressing that the party would stand by the bereaved family throughout the difficult period.

He urged party supporters to remain law-abiding, noting that APGA would not resort to violence or take the law into its own hands in response to the incident.

According to him, the circumstances surrounding Ubochi’s death required a thorough investigation and decisive action by the relevant authorities.

Ojemba said those responsible for the killing should be identified, arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He also assured the deceased’s family that the party would provide support during their period of mourning and ensure they did not face the situation alone.

Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the killing and said investigations had commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.

Ojemba reiterated that APGA remained committed to peaceful and lawful engagement, urging members to exercise restraint while awaiting the outcome of the investigation.
