Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnap victim in Kaduna State and prevented a planned terrorist attack in Sokoto State.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, saying the operations were carried out separately by troops in Kaduna and Sokoto.

Danja said troops of Sector 1 rescued a 43-year-old man who had been abducted near Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to him, the troops responded to a distress call on Thursday and immediately deployed to the area.

Their intervention reportedly forced the terrorists to abandon the victim and escape into nearby bushes as the troops pursued them.

The rescued man was subsequently reunited with his family, the military spokesman said.

In Sokoto State, Danja said troops of Sector 2, supported by local security personnel, thwarted an attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area on Friday.

He said the troops engaged the terrorists and succeeded in forcing them to retreat from the community.

The troops subsequently launched a pursuit against the fleeing attackers, during which one terrorist was neutralised.

Danja said security personnel also recovered two mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other items from the scene of the operation.

He said the successful operations underscored the determination of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to sustain pressure on terrorists and restrict their ability to operate freely across the North-West.

The Joint Task Force, he added, remained committed to responding rapidly to emerging security threats and creating a safer environment for communities within its area of operation.

Danja assured residents that troops would continue to take decisive action against threats to lives and property.

He also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely and credible information that could assist ongoing operations.

According to him, cooperation between residents and security forces remains essential to restoring lasting peace and security across the North-West.
