Police in Ondo State have arrested a man, Samuel Akoade, for allegedly killing his 60-year-old mother, Mrs Olufunke Amoo, with a machete. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 16, in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command received a report that the woman was found lying in a pool of blood at her residence. Preliminary findings showed she had sustained deep cuts and was already dead when discovered.

Operatives from Ore Division quickly secured the scene and began investigations. A machete believed to have been used in the attack was recovered, and the area was documented. The suspect had fled before police arrived but was later tracked down and taken into custody.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited in a mortuary, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure for further investigation.

Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu directed that the matter be handled thoroughly and professionally. The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly.
