NDLEA Arrests India-Bound Passenger Over Liquid Cocaine, ₦3.6 Billion Illicit Drug Consignment
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have taken an India-bound traveler into custody following the discovery of liquid cocaine disguised within personal luggage items at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, alongside multi-billion naira narcotics recoveries in concurrent state operations.
The anti-narcotics agency disclosed that the passenger was intercepted during outgoing passenger checks while attempting to board a flight to India, whereupon routine screening measures uncovered illicit substances expertly absorbed into clothing items and personal effects.
Following the initial airport bust, follow-up investigative sweeps and targeted enforcement raids conducted across strategic commercial districts and border points in Lagos State yielded significant illicit drug stockpiles evaluated at approximately ₦3.6 billion.
NDLEA officials confirmed that key members linked to the transnational distribution networks were successfully taken into custody during the coordinated operations, while operational vehicles and logistics assets used for transporting the banned substances were impounded.
Commending the anti-narcotics personnel for their heightened vigilance and operational precision, the executive leadership of the NDLEA reaffirmed its unyielding commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and protecting national transit hubs from illegal drug cartels.
