Former Inspector-General of Police and Social Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate in Nasarawa State, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has flagged off an agricultural empowerment initiative targeting 2,800 farmers across the state to boost food production and enhance local livelihoods.

The launch took place at the Esu Karu Palace in Karu Local Government Area, kicking off the first phase across the state’s Western Zone, which encompasses Keffi, Karu, Kokona, Nasarawa, and Toto local government areas.

Addressing the gathered crowd of farmers, traditional leaders, and political supporters, Adamu explained that the scheme was designed to modernize local agricultural practices, mitigate poverty, and overcome long-standing constraints such as outdated tools and low crop yields.

He stated that the intervention aligns directly with his gubernatorial manifesto, emphasizing that sustainable food security and economic relief in Nasarawa can only be achieved by directly equipping local primary producers.

The distributed items included 100 tricycles, 200 soil tilling machines, 2,500 units of herbicides, 1,200 bottles of liquid organic fertilizer, 1,500 bags of NPK and Urea fertilizers, 500 knapsack sprayers, alongside various auxiliary farming tools.

Beneficiaries at the event expressed appreciation for the intervention, noting that the distributed inputs and machinery would significantly improve farm yields and ease operational burdens during the current planting season.
